The second running of Bexhill Runners' Poppy Half Marathon on Remembrance Sunday attracted a record turnout.
Despite the adverse weather conditions of wind and rain, there were 348 finishers (compared to 284 in 2008), including 14 members of Bexhill Runners.

The event started and finished in The Polegrove, and comprised four laps of a circular route along the seafront to the De La Warr Pavilion roundabout, back along the seafront and along the length of the lower promenade and back to The Polegrove.

The Poppy Half was the fourth and final event of Bexhill Runners' 2009 four-race series, 'The Battle of Bexhill', with all proceeds from the race going to the Royal British Legion.

Thanks to generous donations from competitors, £720 was raised alone from special commemorative race T-shirts.

There was also a single donation of £1,000 towards the club's charities from a friend of Bexhill Runners and the local branch of Jewson sponsored the event for barriers.
