05/07/2009 15M Bewl 15
The Start and Finish was in the lane opposite the Greyhound Pub. After heading down the lane for 200yds, the route heads across farmland downhill for approximately 1 mile to Bewl Water. There are two stiles and part of the path is narrow and runners are urged not to be too competitive in these early stages. The route heads clockwise around Bewl Water for approximately 8 miles and is relatively flat. It is largely wooded, with some field sections and is not normally muddy in the summer months. The route heads away from Bewl Water at about 9 miles, as it is necessary to avoid the Nature Reserve. There is a 3 mile section along country roads, which are quiet, but not traffic free. This is the hilly part of the course as the road climbs away from the reservoir and then returns to it. The route then returns to the reservoir for a further two miles, before finally reaching the last mile, back up the path to Wadhurst. This year the race was the full 15 miles and that is reflected in the longer times than last years 14.2 mile route. The weather was very hot.
