Extra funding for Club and Athletes – EA had contacted Steph to tell her about a website which can enable clubs to raise funds, mostly focused around equipment.
Tim: Hayley Ransom had written to suggest Tonbridge Half Marathon as a HR champs race, as an alternative to Barns Green Half Marathon as so few HR participated this year. To be discussed at next meeting.
Membership: Mary reported current membership is 396, including 25 members over 70.
Treasurer: Rob was not present to report.
18/9/16 – Rye to Hastings HR champs. Some issues on the day – change to running on the sea wall rather than the road this year, from Dog’s Hill to Pett. Some people felt this stretch was difficult, eg not possible to pass easily / surface tricky. To be discussed further at next meeting. Angling Club had suggested changing date so it does not clash with Seafood and Wine Festival. Also there was tree cutting in the stretch before Barley Lane and runners were threatened with not being allowed to pass.
25/9/16 – Barns Green Half Marathon SGP and HR champs – Worst bit was getting there said Erica! Very friendly event, not exactly a flat route, but enjoyable. Small medal!
24 and 25/9/16 – Sussex Stride – several HR enjoyed this event.
2/10/16 – Lewes Downland 10 mile SGP
2/10/16 – Anderson Amble – Jo took part for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed it – a really nice day out!
9/10/16 – Snape Wood X-country – 11 HR there but noone to report.
9/10/16 – York Marathon- Sarah and Erica had taken part and enjoyed the event as well as having a look around the city.
16/10/16 – 1066 run. Liz reported, she had taken part in fancy dress and said it was an excellent event. Well organised with just a couple of blips where runners had to cross main roads or had to wait on main road in order to go over a stile.
16/10/16 – Maidstone Marathonb – Jess Cull had taken part in this, her first marathon.
15/10/16 – Hastings bonfire run – Henry took part. He enjoyed the run and said it did not rain until later, luckily. Good for HR to be visible at this event.
29/10/16 – Beachy Head Marathon
6/11/16 – Beckley 10k HR champs
19/11/17 – BMAF Cross Country relays
20/11/16 – Club 5km SUNDAY – time to be advised

Sussex Grand Prix: Kim had the latest standings for Hastings Runners in the SGP – Wendy Brampton, Susan Mann and Louise Coates lead the Ladies and Matt Beaver, Andy Knight and Leo Cacciatore lead the Men. Kim said it was disappointing that fewer HR members have been participating this year. AGM is on 31st October.
Training Nights/Coaching: Thursday nights / efforts have tailed off in numbers and this session has been cancelled. Tim is hoping to organise a yoga class. A room would be available at Horntye. Jo had asked if the timing could be 7pm. Ken Hughes has been welcomed to the coaching team, as well as Carol Lowes.
Hastings Half: Eric not present to report.
Hastings 5m: 7th May 2017. Nothing particular to report.
Parkrun: Kim mentioned it would be good if there was less reliance on Hastings Runners as marshals, as there is a good number of other Parkrunners who could volunteer but people do not put themselves forward, despite encouragement.
Social Media/News, etc: Matt has shown interest in taking over newsletter from Kim who is standing down as editor. Kim reported re Facebook group – he has to keep an eye on those who want to join as there is potential for spam. Kim is also able to delete any inappropriate posts.
Social Secretary: Quiz 4th November, 7:30 for 8, teams of up to 6. Prizegiving / social is 27th January 2017. Need to visit venue to discuss some issues. Donation to Parkrun volunteers’ outing also needs discussion.
CPR Training – carry forward, check with Nigel re trainer
Expenses for those attending national relays, etc – Nick had sent email to participants regarding reimbursement which would not be likely to be £50 per participant as on previous occasions. The club needed to discuss an appropriate amount to reimburse and set a cap. Erica expressed some misgivings about how the teams are chosen. Andy proposed a total of £400 for the forthcoming BMAF cross country relay event, with race fees also being covered by the club. Mike seconded this. This was not carried by the meeting. Erica proposed £300 for expenses with race fees being paid by the club and Jo Edwards seconded this. This was carried.
Anderson Amble – Davinia would like to present a trophy to first time Amblers – 11 needed for this year. She proposed the club should support this. This was seconded by
1066 and all That – Paul Cooper and Peter Wheeler were part of a brace contingent of people running from Stamford Bridge to Battle – 350 miles or so!
Meeting closed at 10:15 pm. Next meeting will be on 2nd November 2016.
