Championship Details For 2016

This year we will be continuing the 3 Club Championships, based on Target Times, the First Past the Post system and the Age Graded Championship. Three championships for the price of one!

KEY POINT – In the Target Time Championship (only) a BONUS 200 points are available for marshalling in one of the 8 Club Only races. By marshalling you will be able to score in 9 races. If you choose NOT to marshal a Club Race you seriously limit how well you do in this championship and you have no chance of winning it. Do NOT leave it until the last 5K Club race as only a limited number of marshals are required for this race.

The aim of the Club Championship based on Target Times is to give each member an equal opportunity to win the championship by rewarding consistent good performance throughout the year.

Every club member will be given a “Target” time for each of the club championship races. After each race the percentage difference in race time against target time will be calculated (Target Time – Race Time). Championship points will be awarded on the calculated time and the best percentage time gaining the most championship points. The number of points gained will be influenced by the number of HR runners that enter each race. Target Times will be published on The Hastings Runners Web site and posted on the notice board at Horntye or are available from Paul Sargent.

Remember, the aim of this championship is to give every member an equal opportunity to win the championship. If you consider a target time is unfair i.e. too fast OR too slow you may appeal against the Target time. An appeal may be made at any time. The appeal must be in writing and include the distance and time appealed against, a proposed Target time and any evidence, (race results etc) to support the appeal.

There are 23 races, plus an optional marathon of your choice, that can gain points towards each club championship. Only the best 8 results will count. During the year points must be gained in 3 Club events. Points are only awarded if Club Vest is worn. Entry on the day to club events will gain points. The Championship event details are attached.

Send your marathon nomination to Paul Sargent, prior to the date of the race.

The eight club races are: Pier to Pier, Club 5K (two), Alan Corke, Rye to Hastings, Barry Richards 10K, Club 5K handicap and TJ’s Summer Race. Please support Hastings Runners by entering these events or remember to marshal one of these races. Note:- Points are not awarded for the shorter races at Pier to Pier and Rye to Hastings.

Full details of the races will be available in the newsletter in the usual way.

Please remember club vest must be worn to score championship points.
