We participate in road races of all distances across most of southeast England as well as events from 5 mile through to the London marathon. Some members venture further a field and run in other countries and we organise running trips to France and Belgium. As well as taking part in road running many members enjoy 'off road' or 'trail' running which covers distances from 5 miles through to the South Downs 80 Miler. There is also a 6 round series of short winter Sussex Cross Country team events plus occasional 2 to 3 mile relay events in the summer. We have a number of members who are keen cyclists and swimmers and who take part in Triathlons, Duathlons and Adventure racing and have achieved some good results. Most importantly however, they have enjoyed themselves and that is the goal we all seek with Hastings Runners. click here to for membership form In the winter months we meet every evening at Horntye Sports Complex at 6.30pm. Sessions are usually around one hour long. As noted earlier these evenings cater for all levels of running from beginner to fast, and for all age groups. You put in as much or as little effort as you wish. In the summer we also run 'off road' on several nights each week enjoying the local countryside, the emphasis being enjoyment, there is no pressure. On Sundays we meet on the Ridge at 8.00am for a longer run when we are not taking part in planned running events. Again this should be suitable for all levels. Thus you could choose to run six or seven days a week or just once or twice. Catering in the main for adults we also provide social functions such as our Christmas Social, quiz evenings and other events. A number of our running events are followed by a picnic or soup kitchen. Hastings Runners is run by its members. We have a regular meeting on the first Monday of each month to discuss club business and running in general. So if you want a 'say' in the running of the Club come along to the monthly meetings. |
